Knowledge of environmental storytelling through Level Design; how to tell a story with and without words. How to work with other designers to use the world (or space) to further plot, relay history, and impart information. Something as simple as a ragged poster on a dingy brick wall can illuminate a Player’s objective and further their understanding.
Huge passion for working with teams to brainstorm, design, and implement stories that support a game and which are in harmony with gameplay and the game’s goals. Game Design background means communication with every team and department is efficient. There’s nothing better than working with others to bring ideas to life. Can work independently as well, and possess exceptional organizational skills.
Ability to pitch, write, and implement plot and build worlds or work within an established IP. Compelling, character-driven narrative as well as a focus on Player immersion and emotional experience. Quests, missions, and storylines rife with adventure, challenge, and daring escapades that plunge the Player front and center into the action.
NPC and Player Character design and descriptions, from backgrounds, motivations, and challenges, to physical attributes, armor, and weapons. Characters that Players can identify with, love or hate, and become fascinated with. Natural sounding conversations - sarcastic, pithy, compassionate, or complex dialog, as well as thematic barks and spoken lines.
Able to adapt style to a game’s needs; be it a fun delivery quest or a heart wrenching meaningful choice. From sci-fi to romance to fantasy to horror, the ability to match the tone and goal of a game’s narrative. An understanding of pacing, story arcs, the hero’s journey (or not), and a deep love for sci-fi and fantasy. Active member of the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America.

Versed in Unity, Unreal, and other in-house engines. Fast learner, able to pick up and run with new tech to assist in implementation of story and narrative.
Previous games made across a spectrum of styles, leading to competence in various types of interactive storytelling. Adept at branching and linear narrative.
A deep understanding of the industry and its trends due to a life full of playing video games, and racking up the years being spent making them.
Dedicated to supporting and fostering the game dev community. Involved in multiple local and global groups, in particular Women in Games Boston (co-organizer), the Boston Festival of Independent Games (VP of Digital Curation), and the IGDA (member). Working to provide safe and inclusive spaces where devs can learn, grow, network, showcase their games, and share knowledge.
